Porto Seguro Water Park – one of the top Porto Seguro attractions
The Porto Seguro Water Park, or Arraial d’Ajuda Eco Parque, is located in a town called Arraial d’Ajuda, very close by Porto Seguro itself, and is one of the most popular Porto Seguro attractions for families.
The nicest way to get to Arraial d’Ajuda is to take the ferry from Porto Seguro over the Bunharem river. This route lets you relax and enjoy the sights as you travel over the water – the estuary where the river meets the sea, reef banks and best of all the mangroves with their incredible root system, looking for all the world like prehistoric plants.
You would do well to enjoy the tranquility of the trip to the Porto Seguro water park at Arraial d’Ajuda, especially if you are taking a party of children or teenagers! The water park itself, in spite of the name “Eco Parque”, which might make you think of nature walks and watery wildlife habitats, is actually a vibrant, fun-packed theme park – one of the more exhilarating activities in Porto Seguro!
The Porto Seguro water park at Arraial d’Ajuda is South America’s largest water theme park. With a capacity of up to five thousand guests a day, it has a huge selection of entertainment and water rides and is loved by children and fun-loving adults alike.
Some of the favorite attractions at the Porto Seguro water park include:
- Giant water tubes and slides – there are lots of different ones, plenty of choice for both younger children and older (or adult!) “kids”.
- Wave pools – the largest computerized wave swimming pool creates waves of up to a meter high! The 75 meter long wave pool’s “mini tsunamis” run for 15 minutes at a time throughout the day, followed by a 30 minute break so you can catch your breath. It’s so much fun that this pool alone could keep you and the children entertained for most of the day!
- Water rapids – there is a reasonably calm one where you can lie back and relax on a large thing that looks like a blow up doughnut, and you drift down the gentle “rapids”. Those of you more into the “adventure travel” side of things might prefer the “Kamikaze style” rapids where you toboggan along an 88 meter track with a fall of 17 meters, specially designed for reaching top speeds! (Don’t worry, there are life guards on hand – just in case!)
As well as the many pools and water rides the Porto Seguro water park at Arraial d’Ajuda also offers exciting rock climbing walls and rope obstacle courses. After all that, you might want to catch your breath with a gentle explore of some of Arraial’s 20 kilometers of beautiful beaches with their clear, warm water and coconut palms.
Heading back to Porto Seguro from the water park, don’t be surprised if the children fall asleep on the ferry after their exciting day!
