Praia de Apa-Fogo is just south of the city of Porto Seguro, over the Buranhem River next to Arraial d’Ajuda. This beach is within easy reach of Porto Seguro and can be accessed very easily by a short ferry ride across the river from Porto Seguro.
Praia de Apa-Fogo is one of the popular Porto Seguro beaches. The Apa-Fogo beach is great for swimming and fishing. Like many of the Bahia beaches along the Porto Seguro coast, the waters are calm thanks to the reefs that keep the biggest waves away from the beach.
The beach of Apa-Fogo also offers visitors plenty of entertainment in the shape of water sports. On the beach you will find opportunities for windsurfing, kayaking, kite surfing, surf trips and jet ski-ing and other exciting activities for those of you looking for adventure travel during your stay in Brazil.
When you have had your fill of excitement in the water, there are beautiful walks along the sand and among the palm trees along the Bahia beaches of the Porto Seguro coast.
A typical Bahia beach among the array of Porto Seguro beaches, beach Apa-Fogo has beautiful natural reefs which are great for snorkeling and swimming with the fishes, and if you are lucky with green turtles, above the coral. At low tide, you can explore the coral reefs on foot and examine the natural pools that are formed along the coral reefs. It’s a great opportunity for some nature photography of Porto Seguro beach pics, but please be careful not to tread too much on the coral – remember that it is a living thing!
Like many of the beaches in Porto Seguro, Praia de Apa-Fogo caters well for tourists, both from Brazil and internationally. You will find that all the facilities you need - food, drink, restrooms and such like are readily available on and near the beach.
You should keep a close eye on your belongings, especially during busy weekends. The beach equivalent of pick pocketing is not uncommon! It usually just happens that something “goes missing” when there is a group of innocent looking kids playing nearby.
As is normal for a Porto Seguro Brazil beach, Praia de Apa-Fogo does not go quiet at night. There are always local people who chill out on the beach in the evening and often there are beach and Porto Seguro parties or luaus that may continue into the early hours of the morning. There is no reason to go to bed early when you are staying on the beach of Praia de Apa-Fogo!
