Praia de Taipe – great diving experiences and other activities
Praia de Taipe is one of the more isolated of the Porto Seguro beaches, surrounded by spectacular cliffs up to 20 meters high. Taipe Beach, unlike many of the beaches in Porto Seguro, is less popular with bathers who have young children, as the sea is open with strong waves compared to many of the more sheltered array of Porto Seguro Bahia beaches along the Porto Seguro coast.
Due to the waves, the sea at the Beach of Taipe is good for net fishing. Porto Seguro Brazil surf reports will alert you as to the safety or otherwise of surfing on this beach, depending on the weather and the time of the year.
As well as surfers and surf trips, this Bahia beach is also very popular with experienced divers as it has beautiful underwater mountains, called “reboleiras”. These are amazing undersea landscapes along the sea bed at Praia de Taipe that make a very exciting scuba diving experience. If you are experienced you can hire equipment locally and dive with friends, or for less experienced divers it is advisable, for safety’s sake, to dive with an organized group with a knowledgeable local guide.
Beach Taipe is a sandy Porto Seguro Brazil beach that is particularly popular with nudists, thanks to the high sheltering cliffs that give the shore a little privacy. It is also very popular with the green turtles, for whom this beach is an important spawning ground during the egg laying season. If you are visiting during the right season, you may be lucky enough to come across a female turtle laying her eggs. If you wait quietly until she starts laying, you may be able to get a photo for your Porto Seguro beach pics collection. Don’t disturb her while she is digging though, or she may abandon the attempt and head back to the sea. Once she has actually started laying then she is much less likely to be disturbed by your presence.
Although Praia de Taipe is an isolated and tranquil beach in Porto Seguro Brazil, it is easy to reach and you can drive right onto the beach, as there is direct access via the bridge over the Taipe river, and a dedicated parking area. There are all the amenities you need at Praia de Taipe, including at least four different beach kiosks with bar and restaurant.
